Therapy is an important choice to make.
“Don’t give in to your fears. If you do, you won’t be able to talk to your heart.”
― Paulo Coelho
It's a big world; awesome and sometimes terrifying. It's almost as big as the world inside each of us; exciting, confusing, and... sometimes... terrifying. No matter our age or our gender there are things about being a person in this world that are, at best challenging, at worst... soul-crushing. When the challenge gets too big to manage... it's time for therapy. My door is open to the child facing hardship, the young adult looking to discover their path or the man or woman who wants to walk a better one.
I work with children; minimizing the effects of trauma and loss, and releasing the stress that can trigger challenging behaviors. I work with young adults with special needs: building social skills, strengthening behavioral choices and stimulating clarity of self. I work with those who shoulder the burden of depression, anxiety, and overwhelm; I get it.
I am forming a support group for parents of children with disabilities, of any kind. This group will meet weekly and it will allow parents to share their feelings in a safe place. It will allow parents to feel supported because having a child with any disability can be isolating, overwhelming and at times you wonder if you are doing the right thing for you and your child. Having a child with special requirements can be hard on a marriage and relationships with other children in the family. Who better to understand you than other parents with children with special needs. This group will be limited to 10 participates to allow time for everyone to share. Local resources will also be shared. Fill in the form below and we will be in contact with you. Or you can phone us to be put on the list. Group is anticipated to begin in February 2018.
